Grand Digital Pianos: Reasons You’ll Never Find them in Most African Churches

The grand digital piano is a type of musical instrument that has only been around for a few years. Despite its recent invention, the grand digital piano has already made quite a name for itself in the world of music. Many famous pianists have praised the grand digital piano for its realistic sound and feel. However, there is one place where you will never find a grand digital piano: in an African church.

There are a few reasons why grand digital pianos are not common in African churches.

Very Expensive

First, they are very expensive. A good quality grand digital piano can cost upwards of $10,000. This is a lot of money for most African churches, which are often operating on a tight budget.

Not Portable

Second, grand digital pianos are not very portable. They are large and heavy, and require a special piano dolly for transportation. This makes them difficult to move from one location to another, which is often necessary in Africa where churches may meet in different locations depending on the time of year or the availability of a suitable space.

Lack of Electricity

Third, many parts of Africa lack reliable electricity, which is necessary to power a digital piano. Even if there is electricity available, it may not be consistent or strong enough to support a digital piano. This can lead to problems with the piano’s sound quality or even cause the piano to stop working entirely.

Require High-Cost Maintenance and Repairs

Fourth, digital pianos typically require a lot of maintenance and repairs. This can be expensive and difficult to do in Africa, where there may not be qualified technicians or access to spare parts.

Small Stages

Most Churches in Africa are nothing close to what we see on TV with rows and rows of pews. They are small and intimate, with maybe a dozen people or less in attendance. This means that there wouldn’t be much room for a grand digital piano, even if they could afford one.

Different Religious Traditions

Lastly, many African churches follow different religious traditions than those in the Western world. This can lead to different musical styles and preferences, which may not include the use of a grand digital piano. That’s why you’ll see many songs with special musical equipment like drums and percussion instruments instead.

Those are Enough Reasons You Won’t See Grand Digital Pianos in African Churches

With all of that being said, it’s unlikely that you’ll ever see a grand digital piano in an African church for now. However, with time, this instrument will be just one of the many available for worship. It’s just a matter of time.
